HMD Global, the Finnish firm responsible for ‘Nokia’ smartphones, already has five handsets in the market. Now, it seems to be planning to launch its sixth device soon, tipped as the
Nokia X. The smartphone has been in rumours since past few weeks and has now been spotted in multiple images online.
As seen on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform, Suning.com - a Chinese online electronics retailer has posted images showing what can be called the clearest images yet of the
Nokia X. These images cement some of the previous speculations and rumours.
They show the blue colour variant of the smartphone featuring a dual rear camera setup with LED flash. A finger sensor can also be seen at the back, placed below the cameras. Viewing the alleged Nokia X from different angles also shows a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top alongside the controversial ‘notch’ on top of the display. There also seems to be a small chin below the screen with the ‘Nokia’ brand logo.
Earlier, the smartphone has allegedly shown up on TENNA, the Chinese certification website. As per the listing, Nokia X is supposed to feature Android 8.1 Oreo and powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone is expected to come in three variants based on 3GB, 4GB and 6GB RAM options along with 32GB and 64GB storage options.
The listing re-confirms the ‘notch’ screen design and adds the device to sport a 5.8-inch FHD+ (2280x1080 pixels) display. Nokia X is said to be backed by a 3000mAh battery and is rumoured to cost around $250.
Based on the history of Nokia-branded smartphones, this too may run stock Android OS out of the box. It is not for sure if the device will fall under Google’s Android One umbrella or will sport the regular Android OS version. Whatever might be the case, we may hear more about it on May 16.
