Golden Eagle and Freedom variants inject added appeal in Jeep's recently refreshed Wrangler range.
FCA Australia has announced two new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler models, each based on the Wrangler Sport and exuding a distinct theme from history for the hard-core off-roader.
The Wrangler Golden Eagle revives an iconic model from Jeep’s history and is priced from $42,990 for the short-wheelbase model with manual transmission. Additional features fitted to the Wrangler Golden Eagle include a bonnet decal, a tan soft-top folding roof, a 6.5-inch infotainment touch screen, Alpine premium speakers and body colour fenders.
Cosmetically, the Wrangler Golden Eagle is kitted out with 18-inch bronze-painted alloy wheels, a body-colour three-piece hard top, tinted rear windows, body-colour wheel arch flares, a black-painted seven-slot Jeep grille, bronze-accented grille throats and headlamp rings, rock rails and bronze-accented “Jeep” badge.
Inside, the Wrangler Golden Eagle is trimmed in black fabric with light bronze accent stitch. There are “Golden Eagle” logos embroidered on the front seats, vinyl front door armrests and centre console lid. The grab handles, steering wheel bezels and air conditioning vent rings are painted in ‘Moroccan Sun’ and the vehicle is specified with Mopar black all-weather slush mats.
Offered in auto-only form, the Jeep Wrangler Freedom edition celebrates the brand’s long history in theatres of war.
Standard exterior features for the Freedom edition Wrangler comprise: 18-inch Granite Crystal painted alloy wheels/seven-slot grille, black grille slots/headlight bezels, body-colour wheel arches, rock rails, black Sunrider soft top and unique badging and decals. The badging and decals consist of the Freedom Star on bonnet and rear quarter panel on the driver’s side, plus ‘Oscar Mike’ badge, ‘Trail Rated’ badge and ‘Jeep’ badge.
Throughout the cabin of the Jeep Wranger Freedom, the upholstery is black McKinley leather combined with vinyl and cloth, held together by a silver accent stitch. Highlights include the ‘Oscar Mike’ and Jeep logos, Iron Grey painted accents, satin-chrome painted accents for the steering wheel and Mopar black all-wheather slush mats in lieu of carpeted mats.
“Since its inception the Wrangler has served as the ultimate Jeep icon as well as the world’s most capable off-road SUV,” says Guillaume Drelon, Jeep Australia Brand Director.
“With lineage that can be traced back to the legendary Willys Jeep – which were once produced here in Australia – these Wrangler heritage editions tie back to Jeep’s military origins with the ‘Freedom Edition” and to one of the most popular special editions back in the 80s with the “Golden Eagle”.
“We are very excited to bring them to Australia and pay tribute to Jeep’s heritage with these two stylish and bold Limited Editions.”
FCA Australia will bring in just 120 units of the Wrangler Golden Eagle and 150 of the Wrangler Freedom.
